Gear is distributed through master looter and will be awarded as follows.
Definitions:
Main Spec: items for your main spec that you are raiding with. (talk with the raid leader before raid starts if they have you performing a roll other than your main spec) Major upgrades are those that have an item level difference of 7 or more. For Example, a 232 item to a 251 item. results in a +1
Offspec/Minor upgrade: Roll on these items if loot is for your offspec or is considered a minor upgrade for your main spec. Minor upgrades are those that have an item level difference of 6 or less. For Example, a 245 item to a 251 item, or a 251 for a different 251. Does not result in any points.
Loot: Any item that results in gear. If you turn in a mark for a piece of gear, then it is loot.
Process of awarding Gear:
Master looter will link Loot and announce MAIN spec rolls. If this item is a major upgrade for your MAIN spec, then roll on it. The item will be awarded to the person with the lowest amount of points that rolled. for example if 2 people roll with 0 points each then the highest roll wins the item. Winner of item will receive 1 point.
If no one rolls for main spec major upgrade then it will go to a minor upgrade/off spec roll. This is a straight up roll and whomever rolls highest wins. No points will be awarded if you win gear during this roll.
Every player begins a fresh raid with 0 points. If you come into the raid after it has begun and it has progressed then you may start out at +1 points, this is up to the raid leader and should be discussed before you join the raid.
Recap: For every piece of gear you receive for a major main spec upgrade you will receive 1 point. The players with the least amount of points get priority on items.
Tip: Even if you have 5 pts and you need the next item that is up for main spec, Roll on it. The raid leaders will check your points and if If no one with less points rolls on it, it's yours. Do not make the mistake of not rolling just because you have points.
Tip: If it's a minor spec upgrade for you, but it's the peice you have been looking for, feel free to use your Main Spec roll on it. You will still win, but you will incur a point.
Choose your major/minor upgrades wisely.
If nobody needs the item at all then it will be disenchanted and proceeds will go to the guild bank.
Example below.
Raid starts, everyone has 0 points.
First boss is downed and gear drops.
Master looter will link gear and ask for Main spec rolls.
3 people roll.
The highest roll wins gear and gets one point.
Next boss is down. Master looter links gear.
Same 3 people want to roll for Main Spec. All 3 people roll. The loot will be awarded to the person with the highest roll of the 2 that did not win the item before. The third person is already at +1. The winner receives 1 point.
Points will reset at the fresh start of every raid. Raid leaders will make the decision on extended raids if the points will reset or not.
